1960 Formula 1
In 1960 safety measures were being introduced. Roll over bars were created so they didn't get crushed if the car flipped. 1970 F1 advancements
In 1970 the FIA introduces circuit inspection so they can check and make sure there will be no circuit shortages in the race. They created head rest to make there racers feel more comfortable. Red rear tail lights so they can see people stopping. Fireproof clothing so no one gets burned. 1980 F1 Improvements
In 1980 they made the fuel tank between the driver and the engine for easier access to make filling up faster. 1990 F1 Increase of speed
In 190 they made larger rear view mirrors so its easier to see people behind you. Detachable steering wheels so its easier to get out of the car. 2000 F1 Saftey
In 2000. Carbon fiber walls of the cockpit must be at least 3.5 millimeters thick. A 2.5 millimeter layer of Kevlar fiber inside the cockpit walls is designed to resist penetration. 2005 F1 Cockpit Saftey improvements
The padding in the cockpit was thickened from 75 to 100 millimeters.To avoid sharp carbon fiber splinters on the track after accidents, all front wings, barge boards and small aerodynamic body parts must be given an additional outer coating of Kevlar, or a similar material. 2010 F1 Racers Saftey
In 2010. They expanded on the roll bars they were thickened. They created more safety to the racers helmets. with a Zylon strip across the top of the visor. This is intended to reinforce the weakest point of the otherwise tough racing helmets. The wheels are fastened to the F1 car with two tethers.
