Start of the Korean War
The Korean war was a war between south Korea and north Korea. Northern Korea was the communist half of Korea. The war started when they crossed over to the south and invaded the non-communist part of Korea, in attempt to spread communism throughout the whole continent. The United States came to South Korea's aid in the war, they feared the spread of communism. Us forces were now fighting against Northern Korea's forces alongside Southern Korea. -

Marilyn Monroe was an american actress, a model, and a singer. She has 3 golden globes, 29 films and was named one of the sexiest women of all time. On August 5 1962, she died at only 36 years old. Her death was caused by an overdose on sleeping pills. She was found dead in her home in LA, naked on her bed laying face down with a telephone in her hand and an empty bottle of sleeping pills (that were prescribed to her to treat her depression) by her bed. The Death of President Kennedy
John F. Kennedy was the 35th president of the United states. Kennedy and his Political advisers were preparing for the next presidential campaign, he had not officially announced his running but it was clear he would most likely run again and he most likely would win. United states pulls out of war
On March 29, the united states pulled out of the Vietnam war. American troops began withdrawing from the war. During the war, there were a lot of policy changes, and changes in president. Nixon was eager to pull out of the Vietnam war. The policy of Vitenamization was established, which redirected the responsibility of the war to the government of South Vietnam. -
Watergate Scandal (Nixon resignation)
in June, there was a break in at the Democratic national committee headquarters. several criminals were arrested. These men were caught wire tapping phones and stealing documents and they were connected to Nixon’s re-election. Nixon took drastic measures to try to cover up the crime. Soon nixon’s role in all of this was revealed to the public and people realized nixon’s improper use and abuse of the power he had. later on Nixon resigned from being president and removed himself out of office. -

John Lennon is shot
John Lennon was a famous music artists, formerly part of the beetles. He was shot and killed December 8th while entering his apartment building. He was shot four times with a .38-caliber revolver. He was sent to the hospital but didn't make it because he died on the way there from bleeding out. His killer was identified as Mark Chapman.
