Football in the late 1800
So football began in the 1800s. They're was no NFL or CFL their was collage football. Or the NCAA. This was the main football clubs. There was 25 men on each side where today their is only 11 players at a time. They used a ball similar than the one today. They made some "better" modifications to the sport. -

so the equiptmen they used in the 1800s was really nothing. the most protetive part was the soulder pads. the sholder pads where thin and not protetive. the helmets that they wore where thin and madde out of leather. the helmet did not have cage maskes untill the early 1900s. the picture that i hav is of the revulition of football pading. as you can see the padding is thin like i toold you in the begining. the middle looks like a late 60s helmet, and the one on the left looks modern/ 2010 -
the forward pass
so in the 1900s the rule of the forward pass was informed. the game of football was only running you could only run the ball. if you dare to trow the ball it would be a 10 yard penitley. But in 1900s they changedd it so than you can throw the ball. the game begain more fun and diffucult. -

on the fild their is only 11 players at a time. that is the rule for the NFL. Thats why the seattle seahawks have thire campain the 12 man. they have that because they where the loudest fans in the NFL. but in the 1800s they had 24 players on each side! thats crazy because on each side their would be all together 48 players! -

Some football rules
In the 1800s the rule book said that this is no forward passing. So the game was basically just running with the ball. They changed that rule in 1900 where there was problems with the game. So they also changed the field to 110 yards to 100 yards.antother main rule was hiting. When they played in the 1800s the hitting rules where slim but know their is a rule that you can not do some thing called. A horse collar. So that rule basically means that the you is not allowed to grab the sholder pads. -

So in the 1800s they did not have stuff that we do today. In football today we where helmets and shoulder pads. When in the 1800s they whore leather "hats" and thin shoulder pads. There was no gloves to help catch the ball ether. -

in the 1800s football was not like it is today. their was no NFL and in canada and thier was not the CFL. football was molst likely only collage teams. they where the best of the best at that time. this picture that i have shows what the game looked like. the game does not even close to looking like it is today. If you think about it the crowd is much bigger than it is in this picture and it looks not as fun. -

Football today is very diffrent.The NFL with the super boul and championships make it more exiting. the game is more fun and commpettiteve. the game is also more safe. football helmets are now insolated with shok asorbors. So football players have a less chance of geting a concusssion. -

the ball today is called the duke. the ball is much diffrent than the one in the 1800s because they are both diffrent sizes. the one today is more thin and more easy to catch. when in the 1800s the ball was thick and heavy. i think that this would make the game much harder because the way the ball it made. -
