USDA Established

1st Certified Color Regulations Established
Color Regulation Established prohibited the use of poisonous or deleterious colors in confectionery and coloring or staining good to conceal damage or inferiority. -
Establishment of the Meat Inspection Act
The federal Meat Inspection Act prevented adulterated meat and meat products from being sold as food and making sure that the meat is processed under sanitary conditions. -
Establishment of the Pure Food Act
The Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 prohibited the sale of misbranded or adulterated food or drugs in interstate commerce and created a foundation for the nation’s first consumer protection agency. -
FDA Established

Gould Amendment Established
The Gould Amendment amended the Pure Food And Drug Act of 1906 by requiring a detail explanation of terms of weight, measure, or numerical count and ingredients marked on the outside of the package. -
McNary-Mapes Amendment Established
McNary-Mapes Amendment authorizes FDA standards of quality and fill off container for canned food, excluding meat and milk products. -
Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act Established
The law established quality standards for food, drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics manufactured and sold in the United States. The law also provided for federal oversight and enforcement of these standards. -
Delaney Clause Established
The Delaney Clause Established requires the FDA to ban food additives that can cause or induce cancer in humans or animals as indicated by testing. -
Food Additives Amendment Established
Food Additives Amendment requires that any substance intentionally added to food is a food additive and is subject to pre-market approval by FDA unless the substance is generally recognized as safe. -
GRAS
GRAS is part of the FDA that has the role to check that a chemical or substance added to food is considered safe by experts under the conditions of its intended use. -
Color Additives Amendments Established
The Color Additives Amendment required that only color additives (except coal-tar hair dyes) listed as “suitable and safe” for a given use can be used in foods, drugs, cosmetics, and medical devices. -
Federal Hazardous Substances Labeling Act
The Federal Hazardous Substances Act (FHSA) requires precautionary labeling on the immediate container of hazardous household products to help consumers safely store and use those products and to give them information about immediate first aid steps to take if an accident happens. -
Fair Packaging and Labeling Act Established
The Fair Packaging and Labelling Act requires many consumer products to have a label stating: the identity of the product; The name and place of business of manufacturer; packer, or distributor; And the net quantity of contents. -
Saccharin Study and Labeling Act Established
The Saccharin Study and Labeling Act is when the United States federal statute enact requirements for a scientific observation regarding the impurities in, potential toxicity, and problematic carcinogenicity of a non-nutritive sweetener better known as saccharin. -
Nutrition Labeling and Education Act Established
Nutrition Labelling and Education act requires products to have a label with all the bears nutrition information that provides: the serving size or other common household unit measure customarily used or the number of servings in the product. -
Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act Established
The DSHEA prohibit dietary supplements manufacturers and distributors from making false claims, such as “natural” and “therapeutic” on supplement labels. -
FDA Mandated HACCP Regulations For Seafood
The seafood HACCP regulation requires seafood processors to address all seafood safety hazards identified by the hazard analysis in their HACCP plan and to comply with part 117. -

This laws not only applies to not only human food but, to animal food as well including pets.
