Montessori Education & Expedition: Yellowstone

I credit Montessori for my love of learning and my success in school, and I eventually want to become a Montessori teacher. A capstone of my Montessori career was the trip we took in 2008 to Yellowstone National Park where we were able to learn from a ranger, go snowshoeing, test hot springs and geysers, and learn from the nature around us. -
Joined Enloe Cross Country
My transition into high school and my whole high school experience was shaped by my decision to join the cross country team my freshman year. Family Trip to Yellowstone National Park
Family has been a very important factor in my life, and we always made time to go on family trips in the summer. We have always had a camper and we would take it to various National Parks throughout the country. This trip we took in the winter and snowshoed and snowmobiled around the park! National Parks have been very important in developing my love of nature, and my education about the natural world and the impact of humans, which impacts my teaching on the natural world as well. -

Presentation at National Youth-At-Risk Conference in Savannah, GA
In 2016, I had the opportunity to present about the village I was involved in at NC State, the SAY village, at the National Youth-At-Risk conference in Savannah, GA. We presented on our model of a living and learning village along with a one-on-one youth mentorship program.
