    LinkedIn, created in 2002, launched in 2003. This site is a business focused social media platform. It allows its users to create professional profiles and network with employers. It is still used to this day.

    Facebook, created by Mark Zuckerberg, launched in 2004. It is one of the biggest social media platforms in history which allows its users to make a profile, post updates, like and comment on others posts, share pictures and videos as well as request friends.

The disappearing snaps attracted teens and allowed them to communicate with friends instead of using Facebook.

    Launched in 2013, Vine allowed users to share six second videos. It quickly became a humorous app that people still talk about to this day. The app slowly died out due to Snapchat and Instagram also using video sharing.

    Selfies reached their peak in 2014. Selfies flooded social media platforms with users captioning their pictures #selfie. The pictures mostly consisted of the go to pose at the time known as the "duck face".

    In 2015 Snapchat introduced filters. The famous dog face and puking rainbow filters were on in many snaps. Other platforms also took on filters such as Instagram and TikTok.

    Zoom was created in 2011, but became very popular during 2020. Due to the world wide Covid-19 virus, classes moved online and zoom became the online classroom.

    The social media app BeReal released in 2020. Users receive a daily notification that encourages them to take a picture of themselves and their surroundings in a random two minute window every day.
