Lionel Morgan Doesn't Get Selected
Despite their enormous talents, an Aboriginal player wasn't selected in the Australian team until 1960. His name is Lionel Morgan. Morgan plays two tests against the French and later that year in the World Cup squad. He also plays with Aboriginal player (and eventual Test cap) George Ambrum at Wynnum Manly. -
Cathy Freeman Wins Gold
Cathy Freeman wins gold in the women’s 400m at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. She held the aboriginal flag as well as the Australian flag which caused controversy. -

The Football Federation Australia announces a ten year Indigenous Football Development Program to give soccer a higher profile in the Indigenous community and to lift the percentage of Indigenous players in the sport's elite level. -
Adam Goodes
On 24 May 2013, during the AFL's annual Indigenous Round, a 13-year-old Collingwood supporter called Goodes an "ape". Upon hearing the abuse, Goodes pointed the girl out to security, who ejected her from the stadium. After the game, Collingwood president Eddie McGuire apologised to Goodes on behalf of the club. -
First Nations Skater
First Nations skater Harley Windsor becomes the first Aboriginal Australian to compete at the Winter Olympics when he joins the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, where he finishes 18th with his skating partner Katya Alexandrov kaya. -
150th Anniversaries of First International Cricket Tour
Australia Post commemorates the 150th anniversary of the first international cricket tour of England in 1868 by a team of 13 Aboriginal cricketers, most of whom were Jardwadjali, Gunditjmara and Wotjobaluk men from the Western District of Victoria. They played 47 matches, won 14, drew 19 and lost 14. A men's and women's Aboriginal XI squad went on a commemorative tour of England in June 2018 to celebrate the anniversary. -

Ashley Barty wins the French Open tennis Grand Slam singles title in Paris as only the second Aboriginal woman (after Evonne Goolagong-Cawley) and is ranked World Number 2. -
Lance Franklin Scores 1,000th Goal of Career
Swans forward Lance “Buddy” Franklin scores the 1,000th goal of his career at the Sydney Cricket Ground, becoming the sixth player in VFL/AFL history to achieve that many goals, and the first since Gary Ablett in 1996.
