An accomplishment of his presidency was the Louisiana Purchase.The Louisiana Purchase took place in 1803, was when Thomas Jefferson bought aproximately 827,000 square miles of land that was west of the Mississippi River from France for 15 Million dollars. Thomas Jefferson knew that this would be controversial but he knew that it would be a great purchase for his country.

The Lewis and Clark expedition ended on September 23, 1806 when after almost two and a half years, the expedition returned to the city, bringing back a large amount of information about the unexplored region.
