    The United States Capital Is Moved
    On June 15, 1800 the United States Capital was moved from Philadelphia to Washington, DC. In 1790, Alexander Hamilton had the idea of the capital building being moved to federal land. Congress decided that it should be near the Potomac River, so they had George Washington pick the exact location. Two states, Virginia and Maryland had to give some land, but they did. The new capital was then named after George Washington.

    Thomas Jefferson was elected for United States President on March 4, 1801. He was the third President of the United States, and served as president for 8 years. Jefferson was also responsible for the Louisiana Purchase. Thomas Jefferson was on of the leading authors of the Declaration of Independence too.

The United States accepted the offer from France of 15 million. The land bought reached all the way from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains.

He led the United through the War of 1812, which ended in a draw.

Also, under the presidency of James Monroe, the Treaty of 1818 was signed between the United States and the United Kingdom.

During the Missouri Compromise, the United States only had 22 states in it, and half of them still had slavery, while the other half was free and had no slavery.

He was part of the Continental Congress and was one of the people responsible for the Declaration of Independence.

He was the eighth President of the United States, and was the first President of the United States to be born under an American Flag. He spent most of his time as president trying to fix and solve all the left over problems left from Andrew Jackson. The most major problem that happened during his presidency was Economic Panic of 1837.
