C., President Lincoln was shot by Boothe in the back of the head on April 14 1865. The President went into a coma state and passed the next morning.

However, this event is of particular significance because U.S. newspapers engaged in yellow journalism spread stories blaming the Spain. Thus igniting the fuel that accelerated events leading up the the US Spanish war.
