    He was an Italian explorer who was said to have discovered America. He was born in 1436 in Italy.

    Christopher Columbus didn't actually discover America, He never actually stepped foot onto north America. He set foot in Caribbean's that are now the Bahamas.

    Mercantilism was a way to keep the economy healthy. It was manly popular in the 17th and 18th century. This system had the new British colonies in America make money and get good for their mother country, Britain.

    This was basically Democracy's start. It supported the common man and was hated by most high class people in the society. It was very dominant in it's generation.

    He was a Founding Father and the third president of America. He wrote the Declaration of Independence. Born April 13th, 1743.

    This movement was before and during the Civil War and was to end slavery.

    The third U.S. president Thomas Jefferson thought that is was necessary for the nation to expand westward. 7 million had done this by 1840 believing they would get land and be rich. Manifest Destiny played a big part in them moving.

    Dred Scott was a slave who attempted to sue for his freedom. The case was decided on 1857 and he had failed.

    He was a former slave and abolitionist. He was a leader in the abolitionist movement and died February 20, 1895
