Rodney King was an American Activist. On March 3rd 1991, he was beaten by the LAPD. They beat him because he was was driving at an illegally high speed while intoxicated on I-210. George Holiday, an uninvolved person, filmed this and sent it to a local news station which caused riots in L.A. -

On November 7th 1991, Lakers Hall of Fame Point Guard Magic Johnson announced to the world that he had tested positive for HIV. This forced him to unfortunately retire immediately. Thankfully, ever since this, he has never developed the next step of HIV, AIDS. -

On August 24th 1992, Category 5 Hurricane Andrew made landfall near Miami, Florida. This storm was one of the most intense storms to make Landfall in the United States. For many years, it was the costliest natural disaster. It was the costliest natural disaster until Hurricane Katrina pummeled the Gulf coast. -
Menendez Murder Trial
Joseph and Erik Menendez are American brothers who were convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents. During this trial, both of the brothers told the jury that they did this in fear that their father would kill them because they had exposed him of years of sexual and emotional abuse. They had killed their parents on August 20, 1989, and were eventually found guilty seven years later. -

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the North American Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act on November 17, 1993. This gradually eliminated most tariffs and other trade barriers on products and services passing between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. -

The OJ Simpson Trial was one of the most notorious criminal trials in American history. On June 12, 1994, Simpson’s ex-wife and Goldman were both stabbed to death outside her condominium in Los Angeles. OJ Simpson quickly became the prime suspect. On October 3rd Simpson was not found guilty and the polls of public opinion had their say. Then, in October of 1996, he was found guilty of both murders. -
Olympic Park Bombing
The Olympic Park bombing was a domestic terrorist pipe bombing attack on Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, Georgia. This bombing occurred during the Summer Olympics on July 27th, 1996. This bombing killed one person and injured 111 others. One more person involved in this eventually died in a heart attack. -
NATO Bombs Yugoslavia
The NATO bombing of Yugoslavia was NATOs military operation against the federal republic of Yugoslavia. This bombing occurred during the Kosovo War. The NATO originally threatened Yugoslavia in the previous October because of the stuff happening in Yugoslavia. Then, in March, they followed through with that threat. -
Columbine: The School Shooting that Shook up America
Columbine was a high school massacre that occurred on April 20th, 1999 in Columbine, Colorado. The two killers were seniors Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. They murdered twelve students and one teacher. Along with killing thirteen people, they wounded twenty others, then they committed suicide.
