    Hayden Edwards bought land from the Mexican government an the land he bought had old settlers on it. When he showed up, he was furious. Edwards sued the government and kicked the old settlers out. The Mexican gov. sided with the old settlers and Edwards rebelled. Edwards asked Stephen F. Austin but Austin sided with the government. Edwards ran back to the U.S.

    Anahuac was a fort to protect Galveston bay and uphold Mexican law in Texas. General Juan Davis was in charge of the fort and he was very unpopular. He tried to kick out any settler who lived 25 miles of the coast. Bradburn received reports of 10 settlers who were going to separate from Mexico. Bradburn threw them in jail and a man named Patrick Jack decided to protest. Bradbrun arrested Jack and people sent Bradburn death threats so he let Jack go and talked with the government.

    Many Texans wanted to join the fight against President Bustamante to get general Santa Anna in power. John Austin brought together 100-150 men to send a cannon down to the Brazoria River. The person in charge of fort Velasco was general Ugartechea. He refused to let the cannon go down the river. Austin attacked the fort; Ugartechea returned fire. Ugartechea eventually surrendered to Austin. Austin went to Anahuac to free the prisoners but they were already freed by Bradburn
