The first field hcokey sticks were made of wood and dried sap. The stick is about 31-38 inches long. It has 2 parts. The first is the handle where players hold it. The second is curved section of the stick where the players hit the ball with. -

The stickhead was made shorter, the heel of the head was made tighter, and the stick became flat on one side and round on the other side but, it is still made out of wood. -

In 1901 Contance Applebee introduced field hockey to the United States. Athletic Directors asked Applebee to start women’s teams in their athletic departments. -

In 2004, new rule of the head and handle. Head the part from the base of the curve perpendicular to 100mm and the handle the remainder of the stick. -

The sport now
in 2013, is when i tried out for field hockey. I made the team and it is very fun with lots of rules. And i even scored!
