Mesopotamia decided that it is time for a first human civilization to show up. It is settled along the Tigris and Euphrates river. It was little rainfall and sporadically flooding rivers, so complex labor must be instilled to manage the flooding into irrigation channels that can control where the silt is left. The crops can grow and they can settle and start a successful civilization. -

Was created initially to be a method of record-keeping, for taxes and storing grain and trade. By wedge shapes of soft clay tablets. there are thousands of characters and not many people could read it anyways. It was pictographic and limited in nature. It needed context and could only represent tangible things. Later phonetics were used and stylization to make it more efficient. -
