Sir Henry Parkes
(1815-1896) Sir Henry Parkes, also known as father of federation. He was born on 27th of May 1815 in Warwickshire, in England. Sir Henry Parkes was many things-politician, premier of N.S.W, a poet, journalist, newspaper owner and even a federationist .Sir Henry Parkes is the youngest of seven children, He had 3 wives and seventeen children. He is the first to have the idea to federate. -
Western Australia
Western Australia was the last colony to agree to federating but eventually Western Australia joined when the other colonies promised to build a railway to Perth. -
Alfred Deakin
Alfred Deakin (1856-1919), was a barrister, journalist and Prime Minister for three times Australian politician who served as the second Prime Minister of Australia, in office for three separate terms – 1903 to 1904, 1905 to 1908, and 1909 to 1910. He had earlier been a leader of the movement for Australian federation. He joined the first federal parliament along with Sir Henry Parkes. -

Federation
In 1881, Henry Parkes proposed to a Federal Council to consider matters of a joint interest to the Australian Colonies. On January 1st 1901 Australia federated. Australia needed Britain's approval for Australia to federate. Eventually Britain gave permission to Australia. -
First Federal Parliament
The first federal Parliament, which had 36 senators and 75 members of the House of Representatives and were held on 29th and 30th March 1901.
