Children's Roles in Agriculture
In the 1850's children were often on the farm and chores were based on gender. Women would be doing domestic chores and men would usually be doing outside chores including collecting firewood and feeding animals. Children were always needed at home and couldn't have an education. -

In the 1890's, a competition began to encourage farmers to improve their farms to get a Agricultural Merit Order. The Agricultural Merit Order was made by the French Republic for the best contribution to agriculture. -
The Canadian Fruit Market
In 1896, the boom and the prairie settlement opened the Canadian market to fruit like apples and potatoes. -
Plow and Oxen
This picture shows that the plow is being pulled by three horses and three oxen. That probably means that the soil is heavy and thick.
