The Wright Brothers invented the first sucessful airplane and were the first to fly it. They filed the application for the airplane the "Flying Machine". Thats when the world of aviation started to copy the the designs of the Wright Brothers. -
Bessie Coleman
Bessie Coleman was the first African American to earn a pilots license. Besisie became a role model for many, that included the women and the African Americans. She died in a terrible crash when she was 33, and in her memeory the built a flight school. -
Charles Lindbergh
Charles Lindbergh made the first nonstop flight across the Atlantic going solo. In 1927, May 20th Charles flew off in the "The Sprirt Of Saint Louis" traveling 3,610 miles from Long Island, New York to Paris, France. He landed 33 and a half hours later to 100,000 estatic Parisians in a huge mob. -
Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart was the first women to cross the Atlantic Ocean solo. One day Amelia disappeared while trying to fly around the world at the equator. Many people believe that Amelia crash landed onto and island and died, while others believe she ran out of fuel and drowned in the ocean. Not on piece of edvidence has been found since this accident. -
Chuck Yeager
Chuck Yeager was a famous pilot in World War II. He became the first person to fly faster than the speed of sound. In 1953 he went on to set another world record in speed. He managed to fly as fast as 1,650 mph. -
Jacqueline Cochran
Jacqueline Cochran was a decorated pilot that masterd every kind of plane. At that time she set most records. She became the frist woman pilot to break the sound barrier. Jacqueline still has the most world records in flight then any man or women that became a pilot. -
Neil Armstrong
Neil Arsrong was the first man to walk on the moon.
