    The Japanese were now occupying Singapore in full force. thye controlled the entire western front and most of the north. This day saw the Japanese take their heaviest loss yet they still continued on advancing on their targets. That evening Winston Churchill declared that the Allies must "fight till the bitter end at all costs"

    The Battle of Bukit Timah, which took place on 11 February 1942, was part of the final stage of Japan's invasion. Their next objective was Bukit Timah which would provide vital water, food, ammunition, vehicles, machine parts and other supplies.

    The Allied lines stabilised around a small area in the southeast of the island and fought off determined Japanese assaults. The Japanses continued their advance at the battle of Pasir Panjang where they overrun an entire Malayan platoon and executed their Lieutenant.

    The Allies were loosing ground so the senior officers began to advise the Allies to surrender to stop further civilian casualities. The battle of Pasir Panjang continued with considerable artilliary force and hand to hand combat

    At around 1pm the Japanese lauched an attack on the Alexandra hospital in which they forced everyone out and made them all walk to an industrial area, anyone who fell behind was killed. Once there the prisoners were kept in small poorly ventilated rooms, many of the prisoners did not survive the overnight stay
  • Singapore has fallen

    Singapore has fallen
    By the morning of 15 February, the Japanese had broken through the last line of defence; the Allies were running out of food and ammunition. The anti-aircraft guns had also run out of ammunition and were unable to repel any further Japanese air attacks which threatened to cause heavy casualties in the city centre. At 5:15 the British Lieutenant Arthur Percival officially surrendered to the Japanese.
