Guy Montag meets Clarisse
As Montag is walking home from work, he comes across Clarisse McClellan and they start talking as they walk to their houses. She asks him questions that make him reflect on love and relationships. From here on, he looks for her everytime he walks home. -

Bradbury wrote this book without specifying the time or place it takes place. This is so the book is more relatable to anyone at anytime, making it seem like these horrible events could be occuring in the reader's own city. -
Mildred overdoses
Things begin to go wrong when Montag comes home to find that his wife, Mildred, swallowed an entire bottle of pills. When the technicians come to pump her stomach and replace her blood, Montag realizes how ignorant and uncaring people are about eachother. -
The Hound
At the firestation, the mechanical fire dog begins threatening Montag for no reason. When he trys to tell his cheif, Beatty, he is told that it is impossible based on the hound's programming. Montag is still suspicious and thinks that someone sabotaged the programming. -
Firemen
While the firemen are sitting around playing cards, Montag asks if firemen used to put out fires as opposed to starting them. Beatty pulls out the rulebook that states no such thing as labels Benjamin Franklin as the very first fireman. -
Montag finds a book
The firemen are called to a house where a woman had been keeping books. The woman ends up setting herself and her house on fire. This bothers Montag to the point that he takes a book home with him. -
Faber
Montag visits a professor named Faber, who helps Montag realize the importance of books and agrees to help sabotage the firemen. -
Mildred's Betrayal
Mildred had become frustrated with her husband and his book and decides to notify the firemen. Captain Beatty brings Montag to his own house and tricks him into burning it down. -
Escape
Montag runs to Faber's house to watch his pursuit on TV. He takes off to the River and puts on new clothes. Faber leaves for St. Louis and Montag goes to the forest to hide from the authorities. -
New Beginning
The next morning, the city is bombed, destroying everything inside it, a side from a few survivors. -
Book Covers
Montag comes across the "Book Covers", a group of rebels who each have memorized a book. Joining them, Montag and the group of survivors head towards a new city with the belief that the world needs them.
