The French and Indian War ends -
Proclamation of 1763
George III prohited all settlement west of the Appalachian mountains without the garunttee of security from the local Native American nations. The colonists basically ignored in the law, and they believed that they had the right to live where ever they wanted. -
Sugar Act
The first attempt to finacnce the defense of the colonies by the British government. The colonists thought that the tax proposed on the act was unreasonable. This lead to riots and protests. -
Stamp Act
This act required all the legal documents, newspapers, and pamphlats all needed to have a stamp if they were being sent out. The Colonists responded to this with acts of anger and they came together as a team. -
Stamp Act Congress
The colonist responded to this and thought that it was unconstitutional, so they created the Stamp Act Congress. The colonists were happy that they somewhat resolved the Stamp Act. -
Declaratory act
Parliment finalizes the repeal of the stamp act, delcares the right that they still have the right to tax the colonies. This made the colonists very happy because they felt like they had won the battle and kinda got Parliament to do what they wanted. -
Townshed Revenue Act
Taxes on tea, paper, and other things of that sort. The colonists started boycotting goods, refusing to make living quarter for British Troops. -
British Troops arrive in Boston
Britsh Troops arive in Boston in response to political unrest. The colonists became restless and very frustrated with the troops and the British themselves. -
Boston Massacre
The Colonists were very angered by the British Troops, so they decided to harass them. One person threw a snow ball at one of the gaurds and the gaurd droped his musket and it ended up killing 5 civilians in the crowd. -
Boston Tea Party
The American Patriots became so angered with the tea and its taxes that they dressed up as Mohawk Indians and dumped tea into the Boston Harbour. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
It was the first engagements of the British and the Minutemen. The Americans were worned by Paul Revere. The Colonists were happy in a way that they won the battle. It was felt like a major military victory for the Americans.
