TRADITIONAL MEDIA
In this year, 2004 to 2010, I was exposed in what we call “Traditional Media”. Life back then was very simple, the technology that time was not that advanced unlike today, there were not enough gadgets in that era and also, I was living in the rural area or what we called “bukid” in lay-mans term, so ita normal that the meduim that we use to gather news and other information was through newspapers, radios, print advertisements and direct mails. -
Newspaper and Magazine
Newspapers and magazines were being delivered house to house or directly to our house, and that is our way of gathering information about the latest news that is happening in our Barangay and also in our country. -
Static and Dynamic Content
Static Content is where we can see the activities of an individual person being done in the internet like HTML, layout design etc. While on the other hand, Dynamic Content is the interactions of a person to another person like talking, playing, and other activities done physically. -
TV and Radio Station
There are times that we are to lazy to read and browse the newspaper and magazines, so we just turn on the television and watch news programs on it or we simply turn on the radio and listen to it. It is also more convenient that reading stuffs on the newspaper and magazine. Also, it gives entertainment to the audience. -
Print Advertisement
Sometimes, when I go to town I see some print advertisements posted on the wall or windows, even on billboards about a product they are selling, and seeing such print-ads sometimes motivates me or encourage me to buy whatever they are advertising on their ads. -
Direct Mail
I dont receive any direct mails back then because i was too young to receive such things. But i know what a direct mail looks like and i am very aware of it, because i saw this in my mom when her comapny is sending her mails, or when the bank sends a mail to my mom and other stuffs like electricity bills and water bills. -
NEW MEDIA
Then i experienced “New media” from the year 2011 up to this present time. From bukid, We moved to the city, and that was the time i got exposed to the social-media, a much more efficient way in communicating with my friends and a more easier way in acquiring information. I also learned how to socialize and get in touch with my friends not just personally but by the means of the social media. -
Social Network
Social networking sites like facebook, twitter, instagram. This made my life more easier. This are my means of communication. I often more use these platforms than texting. This made communicating with friends more easeir, i get to talk to my friends no matter how far they are, i can update them as fast as i can. -
Blogging/ Microblogging
Blogging or microblogging. Are means of expressing my self. This are the websites that enables me to express whatever i feel like twitter, tumbler, instagram, and snapchat. These sites lets me express whatever i feel on that day whatever i want to share. When im sad or angry and i just want to throw out some rants. Or just whan i want to express the happiness that im feeling. -
Geolocation
Next improvement in our technology is Geolocation this let us look for a certain location in just a snap we can locate what place we are looking for. This gives us the directions and where exactly we can find it, no need for us to look for it in the map and ask strangers for directions. Its more safer and effecient. -
Media Sharing
Next is Media sharing like youtube. This platform let us bring entertainment to people around us. Like uploading videos to share knowledge or lifehacks that can make the lives of other people more easier. Or just by simply sharing stuffs to make them smile or laugh and spread a little bit of positivity. -
Review Sites
Last example of new media are Review sites. This let us share our insights on certain things like sharing what we feel about certain items if its worth it or not, if the services being offered are worth acquiring or not. This will be a big help to other people who are also intrested in getting those items or services. People can use your reviews in helping them to make decisions on what steps they are going to make before acquiring certain items or services.
