    Opened the African Coast up to navigators. That was important because it opened the coast to more travelors so they could find new land.

    He reached the mouth of the Gambia river in West Africa. He was sent on the trips by Prince Henry.

    He led the first European Expedition to the cape of good hope in Africa. He found new land and led the first expedtion which introduced people.

    He was the first person to relize that the americas were serperate from Asia. Later in 1507 America was named after him. Then in 1499 he discovered and explored the mouth of the Amazon.
