Zheng He takes his first voyage
Zheng He embarked on the first of seven voyages on July 11, 1405 under command by Yonglo, of the Ming Dynasty. His treasure ships were sometimes about 400 feet long! He voyaged to show other countries how powerful China was so they they could gain respect and revieve tribute from other countries. He brought back many exotic animals from Africa as well. -

Prince Henry founds first navigation school
Also Known as Prince Henry the Navigator. He was the prince of Poryugal. He found navigation schools so his country could become more advanced with sailing and navigation so they could explore. Many countries sturggled with a lack of people with knoweledge about sailinng so this greatly improved their situation. -

Ming China adopts isolationist policy following Zheng He’s seventh voyage
The Ming Dynasty realized that the voyages were so extravagant that they cosg more money than they recieved in tribute. Therefore they decided to completely isolate themselves. -

Columbus sailed the ocean blue
Christopher Columbus sailed across the Ocean hoping to find a route to Asia by crossing the Atlantic Ocean. He convinc ced spain to finance the trip. He landed in America on October 12, 1492. -

Christopher Columbus lands in Hispaniola
After the Spanish allowed Christopher to make three other voyages. After the first of these voyages he spotted cuba, which he thought was China. He later discovered Hispaniola. -

Spain and Portugal sign the Treaty of Tordesillas
Spain and Portugal were fighting over terretories. A pope created the Line of Demarcation which marked each countries' boundries. The Treaty confirmed their agreement to the line. -

Vasco da Gama reaches India
Following Bartolomeu Dias's route along the southern tip of Africa, Vasco de Gama rounded the tip and then reached Calicut, on the southwestern coast of India. His crew were amazed by all the luxurious items.They returned to to Portugal with a cargo 60 times more valuable than the price of their trip. His trup was 27,000 miles. -

First enslaved Africans arrive in the Americas
The Americance used Natives as their source of labor, however, Indians were not very immune to their diseases and many passed away. It was necessary for them to find another source of labor. Africans were more immune to European diseases so they didn't die from their diseases as much. Also, they couldn't really blend in if they tried to esxape because of their dark skin pigmentation. -

Cortés conquers Aztec Empire
Montezuma the Aztec emporeor thought that Cortez was a god. Cortez defeated them during a religous festival but the Aztec's took over after rebelling. Cortez then took over with their superior weaponry. -

Pizarro conquers Incan Empire
Pizarro conquers the Incan Empire when he met the Incan Ruler Atahuapa with an army of 200 men aganst an army of 30,000. They waited in ambush and defeated the army. -
Tokugawa Ieyasu becomes shogun of Japan
Following the Warring States Period Tokoguwa came into power.He defeated Toyotomi Hideyoshi. -
English found Jamestown
The English wanted to explore like the Spanish and the French. A company of Londan Investors recieved a charter from King James to send out three boats with over 100 settlers. They reached Virginia and named it Jamestown in honor of their king. -
English found Plymouth
A group known as Pilgrims were persecuted for their religion so they fled from England and created a colony in Plymouth, Massachusetts. -
Manchus establish Qing Dynasty in China
After the Ming Dynasty began to crumble from currupt rulers, and ineffective order. The Manchus invaded and estalished the Qing Dynasty. They gained respect from the Chinese. -
French and Indian War ends
Is also called the Secen Years War. It is a war between the French and the British. There was a lot of tension between the two countries because they both wanted more land in the Americas. The war was mainly out of control for lands.
