Columbus sailed to the Americas
Columbus led his three ships- the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa maria- out of the spanish port of Palos on August 3, 1492. He made a mistake in thinking that he could reach Asia by just sailing west. He landed on an island in the Caribbean thinking it was the East Indies.

Cortez conquers the Aztecs.
The Spanish conquest of the Aztecs in 1521, led by Hernando Cortes, was a landmark victory for the European settlers. on 1588, King Pillip II sent an armada to invade England. The invasion was a disaster because England's ships were a lot faster and smaller. If the invasion was successful it would have been the end of Protestantism in England -
King James gives charter to London investor
In 1606, King james gave a charter to found a colony in North America to a group of London investors. The colonist focused more on finding gold than actually planting crops. Thus, many died from hunger and diseases. -
English settle Jamestown
English settlement in the Chesapeake region of North America. By December, 104 settlers sailed from London instructed to settle Virginia, find gold, and seek a water route to the Orient. Some traditional scholars of early Jamestown history believe that those pioneers could not have been more ill-suited for the task.

Peter the Great of Russia begins his reign
Peter became tsar when he was only ten years old. On his eleventh birthday, he was allowed to use some real guns and he had young men and boys come to make up mock battles with him. in his first years as a tsar, he wasn't as interested in government.

Glorious Revolution in England
William of Orange and his Mary were invited by the Parliament to take power in England. The Glorious Revolution was called "glorious" because there were no bloodshed involved. James II desired to rule and established the Roman Cathlic religion which the common people did not like. -

The French Revolution began in 1789 with the storming of the Bastille. The Third Estate formed their own assembly called the National Assembly. They wanted to move towards a democratic government rather than absolute monarchy. -
