Early Life
At the age of 21 Prince Henry, his father, and brothers attacked the Moslem ort of Ceutha in north Morocco ( in Africa,across the mediterrancan sea). This success inspired him to to explore Africa, whith was unknown then to the Europens. -

In 1418 Prince Henry started the first school of ocenic navigation and astronomical observatory at Sagres, Portugal. -

Exploring West Afica
Most saolors rufused to go to Cape Bojador but Prince Henry wanted to be the first person to sail past it, he sent 14 expeditions for over 12 years trying to go farther then Cape Bojador. Prince Henry convinced Gil Eannes to try, he succeed in 1434 -

Africa
In 1455 he sent Alvise da Cadamosto on tow expetions. The first in 1455, Cadamosto reached the mouth of the Gambia river. The second in 1456, Cadamosto sailed up the Geba river. He tried trading with the Africans but was unsuccessful. Cadamosto cclaimed to have discovered Cape Verde Islands. -

He was appointed to command an expedition equipped by the Portuguese government, whose intention was to find a maritime route to the East. -

Early years
When he was still a teenager, he got a job on a merchant ship. He remained at sea until 1470, when French privateers attacked his ship as it sailed north along the Portuguese coast. The boat sank, but the young Columbus floated to shore on a scrap of wood and made his way to Lisbon, where he studied mathematics, astronomy, cartography and navigation. -

Columbus’ contract with the Spanish rulers promised that he could keep 10 percent of whatever riches he found, along with a noble title and the governorship of any lands he should encounter. -

A life as a soldier
Magellan was first a soldier. During the Battle of Hastings, Magellan was seriously injured. His leg had to be amputated as a result. The wooden leg that replaced it never fit him properly, and he walked with a limp for the rest of his life. -

Un-fair treatment
Columbus sailed west across the Atlantic for the third time. He visited Trinidad and the South American mainland before returning to the ill-fated Hispaniola settlement, where the colonists had staged a bloody revolt against the Columbus brothers’ mismanagement and brutality. Conditions were so bad that Spanish authorities had to send a new governor to take over. Christopher Columbus was arrested and returned to Spain in chains. -

His last days
After 20 years at home, in 1524, he was nominated as Portuguese viceroy in India and sent to deal with the mounting corruption among Portuguese authorities there. -
Killings
After Muslim traders killed 50 of his men, Cabral retaliated by burning 10 Muslim cargo vessels and killing the nearly 600 sailors aboard. He then moved on to Cochin, where he established the first Portuguese trading post in India -
Running from the law
Balboa joined an expedition to South America. After exploring the coast of Hispaniola. While there, he got into debt and fled, hiding away on a ship headed for the fledgling colony of San Sebastian.
