Experiences That Have Shaped Me As A Reader

    My first grade experience is very memorable. This is when I learned how to read and became amused of reading story books. My parents did not have the change to read me a story book, so my first time to be able to read a book to myself was incredible feeling.

    Author
    Judy Blume is the very first author I get to know. I learned that authors' background have a big impact on the content of their writing. Learning who the author was influenced my attitude as a reader because, I consider their background and purpose when I make my judgment of the content of the book I am reading.

    I do not have patience in reading, unless something interests me. However, doing homework push me to read.
  • Encyclopedia

    When I was young, I do not have access to computers when you can easily type in words and informations pops out. However, Encyclopedias are prominent back in the 90s and it made reading as one of my hobbies because it provided vast informations about things I am fond of.

    Being an ELL influenced my attitude towards reading. I get frustrated easily because I have a hard time comprehending each every sentence in a paragraph. It made me hate reading even more especially when doing homeworks.

    I love watching movies based on true story, therefore i'm pretty much just interested reading books that relates in real life events. Somehow, I understand the content better than fiction movies and books.

    I like reading magazines and newspapers because they are short, straightforward and I can pick different sections that I am only interested in. Reading magazines helped me a better reader, because it prepares me to read larger content materials like textbooks.
