    People were giving grants to be able to purchase their land. Mexico offered enourmous Land Grants to agents, who were caled empresarios. The empersarios, in turn, attracted American settlers who wanted to buy cheap land.

    The Law of April 6, 1830 was issued because of the General Mier y Terán Report. The Law of April 6, 1830 angered many Mexicans, Tejanos, and Anglos alike in Texas. This decree placed a severe halt on American immigration to Mexico. The Texans wanted the 1824 General Colonization Law (Constitution of 1824) to be restored.

    The Texas Revoulation began when the colonist of Mexican province of texas went against the Mexican goverment. This lasted from October 2, 1835 and ending in the battle of Sn Jacinto on April 21, 1836.

    Houston was elecred president of the Texas Republic. They earned their independent from Mexico in a successful military rebellion.
  • Texas joins the Union

    Texas joins the Union
    On December 29, 1845 Texas Joins the Union. When president Polk entered the White House, he continue to encourage Texas to accept the Tlyer offer. The bull was signed December 29, 1845 accepting Texas as the 28th state of the Union.
