Megan initiates
After class Megan calls me. She asked if I wanted to do a a group final project with her. Yes please. We talked about how to make the Field Museum more money, we' d design an app. There are a lot of game apps for free, but then you pay $1 or so to make time go faster to get a desired object or event - grow a tree, build a cake, etc. Sounds great! -
Megan emails Professor
Megan emails Professor Twidale to get ok about group project. -
Pick a Provisional Project Topic
I post Megan's and my thoughts on our project to the moodle. -
LEEP Weekend
At LEEP weekend when it came to paper prototyping our project, we were very fortunate to have Kellye and Holly help Megan and I visualize our project. Collaborating was so insightful and to hear great, constructive feedback from classmates was remarkable. -
Meeting of the Minds Part 1
What makes it so easy for Megan and I to work today is we live in the same neighborhood. We met up at a Starbucks 8:30-10:00. I brought the paper prototype that we worked on over LEEP weekend and Megan brought her laptop. We hammered out details. We're straying away from the app idea and focusing on an interactive adventure involving a mystery for kids to solve at the musuem. -
Meeting of the Minds Part 2
Megan and I meet up at Starbucks again. I presented a 'prototype' of our plan. I wanted to go through step by step what we're doing, with some visuals via a document with bullet points with funny pictures. This clarified even more strictly adventure in museum and no app. Fun, interactive game using iPads as magnifiying glasses to solve mysteries by scanning QR codes and taking candid pictures. We begin to fill out project idea template. Megan has a laptop and this has been benefical! -
Turned in Project Update
Megan and I emailed each other briefly and finished up our project idea to put on the wiki. -
Field Museum visit
Megan and I go to the Field Museum. To take pictures, and visit the exhibits. Undergound Adventure, Ancient Egypt, and Evolving Planet. Undergound Adventure was a FAILURE! So many things we saw that didn't prone learning and weren't intuitive. We loved the Evolving Planet exhibit and agreed to form our mystery adventure around that. -
Meeting of the Minds Part 3
We narrow down our focus and choose Evolving Planet to be our adventure mystery. Homework: Type up 5 clues, use dropbox for photos, and create characters. I have to create an old curator and Megan will create a cutting edge detective. -
Meeting of the Minds Part 4
We compare our clues that we've come up with. I realize mine could have a bit more fun and flair. That's what a mystery is all about! We found a character creation website and we spent most of the time creating two distinct characters for our project. -
Project Update
Turned in our updated project by end of the night. Really plased with what we've come up with and good questions to ask ourselves. -
1st Round of Presentations
1st round of presenters went, 6 total. We were inspired by the groups that went. What worked, and what didn't quite so work. Going in the 2nd round, we have to spice it up a bit. -
Meeting of the Minds Part 5
We went over Wednesday's presentations and gleaned what we could learn to make our presentation just as good. I was given homeowrk to make more slides, take photos of the paper prototyping. Megan is chugging away using this great program to put the slides into. -
Meeting of the Minds 6
I went over to Megan's place with my computer. I brought organge juice, carrots with hummus, and assorted Girl Scout Cookies to help us through. Megan and I went through the slides, and luckily we tried practicing with drop in room, apparently my computer wasn't updated with latest Java. Did that and it worked fine. We timed it, wrote the script, and did a good job. Whew.
