First Volleyball Uniforms
When volleyball was first invented it was played by men. They wore very conservative clothes, like a long sleeved shirt, pants that ran past the knee, and leather shoes. However while containing their conservative values their uniform often grew uncomfortable because of their tight clothing and heavy shoes. -

Women officially didn't start to play volleyball as a competitive sport until the the 40's but college and high school ball started way before than. However when women did play in the 1900's they usually wore very conservative clothing and uncomfortable shoes, so about their everyday women attire. -

In the 1940's the general uniform changed to more of an athletic style than conservative. For instance the skirts chsnged to short cotton shorts, a sleeveless shirt, socks that went to the ankle, and a low comfortable shoe. -

Although skirts were changed to shorts, some schools could not afford that change immediately, so skirts were really around until almost the 60's. -

Volleyball uniforms have really been questioned for what is considered a real uniform, but in the 60's you will start to see the older uniforms leave schools and the newer ones come in. For example sleeves of shirts will start to come off, skirts will totally disappear with the replacment of athletic shorts, and knee-pads will start to be worn. Also school logo's, names, mascot's, colorful colors, and numbers will be a frequent accurance with volleyball uniforms. -

Recent volleyball uniforms usuallly consist of a short sleeved elastic type material shirt, spandex, knee-pads, and volleyball shoes. Yes volleyball shoes they are specially designed for the game of volleyball, unlike regular tennis shoes. -

Present day uniforms can be almost any kind of shirt type. It just depends what your school or region requires, but most all volleyball attire is similair.
