Evolution of packaging

  • First Coke Bottle

The first Coke bottle that was made, was not very eye appealing. It had a green-ish tint to the outside of the glass and it turned the drink a different color then it actually is.
  • 6 packs

This was the first time that 6 packs were used in sales. They were given to the customer in cardboard holders so it was easy for the person to carry. The 6 packs appeal to adults that are bringing them home for their children.
  • Media Appearences

The Coca‑Cola Contour Bottle was the first commercial product to appear on the cover of TIME magazine. It was recognized by its shape, and how big the comapny was becoming,
  • 24 Pack

The 24 pack is the biggest size the packaging comes in. It appeals to teenagers when they are having parties, or adults having parties where children are coming to.
  • Recylcable Bottles

Coca‑Cola introduced the world to the two litre PET plastic bottle. It became popular for a lot of reasons: it doesn’t break; it’s re-sealable, lightweight and recyclable. It was appealing to people who are trying to help save the environment.
  • Green Bottles

Coca‑Cola launched the innovative PlantBottle in the US, a completely recyclable PET container made with 30 per cent plant materials, including sugar cane extracts.
  • Put Your Name on Bottles

Coca‑Cola swaps its iconic logo with Great Britain’s most popular names for the summer-long ‘Share a Coke’ campaign. This was appealing to young people, especailly children because once they would find their names on bottles, they would want to buy it because they would feel attatched to it.
