Sundials
This type of clock was the first ever clock made. It is made out of a flat plate and a gnomon. The sunlight reflects onto the gnomon at an angle and it forms a shadow and when you read it, it shows the time. The main purpose of the sundial was to be able to tell time with the sun reflecting on a surface. -
400 BCE
Water Clocks
The water clock was a way to measure time with water running out of a vessel. The water clock was one of the oldest ways of measuring time and was invented in Athens, Greece. -

Candles Clocks
One not very accurate way of measuring time was to burn candles. The kings would use this by marking hours and they estimated the time. -

Mechanical clocks
These clocks appeared in Italy and on top of towers. The earliest one would strike a bell for every hour. There was not much known about the existence about this type of clock. -
Marine Chronometer
The Marine Chronometer was a more precise type of clock. This clock was precise for determining longitude with means of accurate time. -
Cuckoo Clocks
The cuckoo clocks originated in the Black Forest part of Germany. The three inventors Franz Anton Ketterer, Michael Dilger, and Matthäus Hummel were responsible for building this invention. Cuckoo clocks in the olden days were hand made and so are the modern clocks. -
Time Ball
These were a pretty weird type of clock and they weren't actually used as a clock. Timeballs were actually used to configure marine chronometers or help them figure out direction. -
Modern Clocks
Digital clocks were created and the inventors of these clocks maade millions of dollars. These gave an advantage to many people to read time faster.
