The First Invention of the basic computer
English mathematician, Charles Babbage, attempted to make a steam powered computer. He wanted to avoid human error in calculation and to avoid the untidiness of the calculations. This project was funded by the English government. This machine was called the "difference engine" and was capable of calculating polynomials.

Decrypting with Computers
Alan Turing was a British conceived a hypothetical machine that could process any algorithm. He called this machine the Turning Machine. It consisted of four operations: move left one square, move right one square, print and change state. This lead to basic concept of the modern computor

Simplifying computers
J.V. Atanasoff was a professor of physics and mathematics at Iowa state university. He had many experiments with electronics, radio signals and vacuum tubes. He attempted to make a computer without any gears, cams, belts, or shafts. He is also known as the father of the computer. http://www.columbia.edu/~td2177/JVAtanasoff/JVAtanasoff.html -
ENIAC
Physicist John Mauchly and John Presper Eckert Jr created arguably the first fully electronic computer. THey created it to speed up the time it took to calculate mathmatical equations. This machine contanined 17,500 vaccume tubes. Today only about ten percent of the computer exist in the basement where it was made.

Makeing Computers more Accessible
Douglas Engelbart reveals the protoype for a computer. This computer has a mouse and a GUI (grafical user interface). This is a major jump from specialized computers to computers that are more accecible for the general public.
