    13 day confrontation between the Soviet Union and Cuba on one side and the U.S. on the other. came close to being a nuclear confrontation. Nikita Khrushchev had the idea of putting Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba to prevent any future invasions. a secret agreement was reached and they put 7 missiles on their Cuban base. the U.S. thought about attacking Cuba via air and sea but decided on military blockade instead. confrontation ended when Kennedy reached an agreement with Khrushchev.

    fought by Israel, Eqypt, Jordan, and Syria. Israel launched surprise bomb raids against Epytian air-fields. Israel won the land war and took control of the Gaze Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Eqypt, the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, and Golan Heights from Syria.
