The Yalta conference is taking place to decide the post-war status of Germany. The Allied Nations (U.S., USSR, France and Britain) decided there should be free elections in Nazi-controlled nations.This was decided later to be the marking event of the war. -

First Release of Atomic bomb
American Army releases first bomb onto Hiroshima, killing 80,000 innocent Japanese people in a matter of seconds. -
Second release of Atomic Bomb
The American Army releases its second Atomic bomb onto Nagasaki, killing 70,000 innocent Japanese citizens. -
The Japanese surrender
After witnessing the death of 200,000 Japanese people, Japan decides to give up to the Americans. This ended WWII. -
Marshall Plan
The U.S.'s plan to try and help Europe's economy to try and ensure communisum would not spread. Was later called the European Recovery Program (ERP) -
The beginning of the 'Berlin Wall'
The Soviet Union blocked the main canals, railways and roads so they could only rely on the Soviet to give them food and oil. The Soviet did this so they could have power over the entire country. -
NATO was created
NATO (Northy Atlantic Treaty Organization) is an agreement signed by 28 other countries that if one of the countries that have not signed the treaty decide to attack or invade one of the countries that has signed it, every other country would give defense to the one that signed. -
First Lightning
After Russia setting off its first Atomiuc Bomb, other countries begin testing their atomic bombs as well. With all the countries all testing their bombs, it led to the nickname 'First Lightning' -
The Korean War Begins
War breaks out in Korea when North Korea invades the South. Stalin supports it and gives the North Soviet weaponry. -
The Nuclear Arm Race
A show of who has the power between the U.S. and the Soviet by launching nuclear bombs (11 at total) Other countries witnessed this event but did not join in. -
Warsaw Pact
A pact created by communists as a countpart to the NATO deal. It decalres a mutual defense agreement amoung the 7 European satellites and Soviet Union. Caused many issues in the end. -
Construction of Berlin Wall
The construction of a blockade right between Germany's capital to seperate the communists and capitalists. This idea was created by the German Democratic Republic to try and stop its civilians from escaping to the west. -
Cuban Missle Crisis
The date that marks the closest anytime ever that we almost had nuclear warfare. The Soviet Union was confronting the United States with Cuba for a full 13-day period. Soviet Union secretly placed nuclear weapons on Cuba that did not come to the U.S.'s attention until October 14. Once it was discovered, America was planning on attacking to ensure there is no attack on us. It ended when Cuba made an agreement with the U.S. to return the weapons to the Soviet. -
North Vietnam defeats South
North Vietnam ends up defeating the south to whom have fallen to communist forces. The South lost terribly due to lack of ammunition, soldiers and spare parts. South pleaded America to give money to help with their depression, but we refused. -
Soviet Union/Cold War ends
The Soviets step down from power and brings new Russian leader into power. This leader will now allow democracy and eliminate all communisim. Berlin Wall was torn down in 1989, so all of Russia is back together.
