Hydrogen bombs are more powerful than the current nuclear bombs. Having these was an advantage over the current arsenal of nuclear weapons possessed by both the United States and the USSR. -
Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Death
Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were accused and tried of committing treason. They were suspected to be sending information to the USSR, this was confirmed much later than the actual deaths. Taking place during a time where the country was scared of communist spies this just provoked the paranoia already rampant in the citizens. -

Mutual defense pact between eastern European communist countries. (Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Soviet Union, Albania) -

Invasion of Cuba by exiled Cubans armed with United States Arms. Expected to be supported by locals, however was won by Castro's army. -
Berlin Wall Erected
Berlin Wall is erected to seperate West Berlin from East Berlin. This kept the citizens of East Berlin inside and unable to escape from soviet control. -

President Kennedy learns of Russian missile bases being built in Cuba. -

Earth places first man on the moon. This was our way of showing that we were better than the Soviets as we got a person on the moon first. -
Fall of the Berlin Wall
Borders openend on the berlin wall, allowing West Berlin and East Berlin to unite as one once again. People of Berlin celebrated by physically dismanteling parts of the wall. -
Collapse of the Soviet Union
Soviet Union is finished. The countries that made up the previous Soviet Union create a commonwealth. Under this all the countries have political independence.
