Events of the American Revolution

  • French and Indian War

    The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian war. Lasted from 1754-1763. The costs of the war went to the British's government which led to new taxes on it's American colonies.
  • Stamp Act

    It was the first British attempt to raise the revenue through taxes including legal writs, newspaper advertisements, and ships.
  • Townsend Acts

    It was a series of four acts. The acts were passed by the British Parliament in attempt what it was supposed to be its historic right to exert authority over the colonies. Initiated taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    It was a street fight between a "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks at British soldiers.
  • Boston Tea Party

    American people or colonist, who are angry at Britain for "imposing taxation with out representation". They dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    It was a series of four laws passed by the British parliament to get back at the colony of Massachusetts Bay for the Boston Tea Party.

    Britain's 13 American colonies met to talk about America's future under growing British aggression.
