    The Enlightenment was a period where big changes caused the American Revolution. The Enlightenment period was influenced by the European Enlightenment as well as the American philosophy.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war was a war between France and Great Britain. Each of the sides were supported by native tribes in the areas. The war ended in 1763, with the outcome of the British winning.
  • Sons of Liberty

    Sons of Liberty
    The Sons of Liberty is a group organized by Samuel Adams. This group played a large part in the stamp act. This group was made in the original 13 colonies.

    The Stamp Act was a tax towards the colonists, and it was established so that it would help pay the British troops stationed in the colonies during the 7 Year's War. This was an outrage towards the colonists, which lead to violent protests.

    The Townshed act were acts that were passed by the British. The acts are named after the chancellor who proposed the program. 4 of the acts are the Suspending act, the Revenue act, the Indemnity act, and the Commissioners of Customs act.

    The Boston Massacre was a deadly riot that involved the colonists treating the British soldiers wrong, it started as a huge brawl then escalated very quickly and led to a bloody slaughter.

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest by The Sons of Liberty. They did this because of the British taxation that was going on during that time. They dumped 342 chests of tea into a harbor.

    The intolerable acts were laws that were passed by the British after the Boston Tea Party. The laws were aimed to target the people of Massachusetts for their taking in the Boston Tea Party.

    The British marched into Concord and Lexington to stop the Americans rebelling against them by taking their weapons. But instead, this resulted in the spark of the American Revolutionary War.

    The battle or Yorktown was the last ever battle in the revolutionary war. This is where George Washington's reputation for a great leader had started and then was eventually elected the first ever president of the United States.

    The treaty of Paris was a treaty that was signed by the US and the British. This treaty was the treaty to end the the American Revolution. The United states then received independence from Great Britain(the British).

    The great Compromise was an agreement made between large and small US states. They would each receive a number of seats for people to represent in the house for each state. All states would have the same number of states.

    The Bill of Rights was a document that stated the first 10 amendments, which became the laws of the land. It was made so the Americans could find equality with one another.
