Sons of Liberty
Three sons... Paul Revere, John Adams, and Samuel Adams. Protested the passing of the Stamp act 1765. -
Boston Massacre
British troops went to Boston. Came to blows with colonists. Colonists were angry about being unfairly taxed. -
Boston Tea Party
Boarded ships and threw chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. Occurred during hours of 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. -
First Continental Congress meets
First Continental Congress in the United States met in Philadelphia. Led to our nation gaining its independence from England. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
New England soldiers vs British army for the first time. One of the bloodiest battles during the American Revolution. -

Marked start of American War of Independence. Politically disastrous for the British. -
Olive Branch Petition sent to England
The Continental Congress adopts the Olive Branch Petition. Written by John Dickinson. -
Treaty of Paris signed
Treaty of Paris was signed by U.S. and British Representatives. Ends the War of the American Revolution. -
Constitutional Convention
Two min goals. 1, to amend the Articles of Confederation, 2, to form a stronger executive branch of government. -
3/5 Compromise
Was an agreement. Determined that three out of every five slaves was counted when determining a state's total population for legislative representation and taxation. -
Great Compromise
Was an agreement reached during the Constitutional Convention. Settled the method of representation in the legislative branch. -
