French and Indian War
The war began on may 28, 1754 and ended in 1763 with the Treaty of Paris. The war involved The Great Britain Empire and the French who were both supported by many Native American Tribes. -
Stamp Act of 1765
The stamp act was passed by the British Parliament to help pay for British troops stationed in colonies during the seven years war. This required the colonists to pay a tax that was represented by a stamp on different kinds of papers, playing cards, and documents. -
Townshend Acts of 1767
The British Parliament passed a series of measures that taxed good imported to the American colonies called The Townshend Acts. American colonists saw this act as an abuse of power. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre occurred when a mob of American colonists gathers and verbally and physically abused British soldiers. The British soldiers then shot and killed 5 people in a crowd of three or four hundred. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was a political protest in Boston, Massachusetts. American colonists were angry because Britain was imposing taxations without representations. The American colonists then dump 342 chests of Tea into the harbor. -
First Continental Congress Meet
This was a meeting that involved the delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies that became The United States. The colonies agreed to boycott all British Goods beginning on December 1,1774. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
April 19, 1775 the armed conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the thirteen colonies in America broke out. The British army had a goal to capture rebel leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington and also to destroy the weapons and ammunition that the Americans store in Concord. -
Second Continental Congress Meets
The Second Continental Congress met in the independence hall on May 10, 1775. The congress assumed the normal duties of a government. They appointed ambassadors, issued paper currency, raised the continental army through conscription, and appointed generals to leas the army. -
Declaration of Independence Adopted
On July 4, 1776 the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independents. The main purpose was to separate themselves from Great Britain. -
Treaty of Paris
King George III and representatives of the United States of America signed the Treaty of Paris in Paris. This ended the American Revolutionary War and resolved all conflict between the two countries. -
Constitutional convention
In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the Constitutional Convention took place from May 14 to September 17, 1787. This took place to decide how America was going to be governed. -
3/5 Compromise
The 3/5 Compromise was an agreement during the United States Constitutional Convention. They agreed that 3/5 of the slave population will determine taxation and representation in the house of representatives. -
Great Compromise
A dual system of congressional representation was provided by the Great Compromise. In the House of Representatives each state would now a number of seats proportional to the the population of its state. -
Bill of Rights Adopted
President Washington sent copies of the 12 amendments adopted by congress to the states on October 2, 1789. 2 years later by December 15, 1791, 75% of the states had ratified 10 of the 12.
