Events of the American Revolution

  • Enlightenment

    Enlightenment
    This reshaped the ways people thought and understood issues like equality, their own individual rights, along with liberty. It had also produced modern theories of things such as ethics. The biggest impact from the enlightenment was the American revolution and the French revolution.
  • French and Indian war

    French and Indian war
    American Indians fought for main control over their land and their culture. France and great Britain fought over territories, religious differences, waterways, etc. In the end the British won by taking over lands that were originally claimed by France.
  • Stamp act of 1765

    Stamp act of 1765
    This stamp act imposed taxes on every paper including documents in all American colonies except in England. British had passed the stamp act to help with the finances after the seven years war with France.
  • Townshend Act of 1767

    Townshend Act of 1767
    The Townshend act had made taxes on glass, paint, tea, lead, and paper. Because of these new taxes that were made some of the colonies decided to discourage purchase of British imports. The Townshend act also raised revenue by taxing the North American colonies for the British.

    The Boston massacre was a mob of patriot people throwing things like stones, sticks, or snowballs on the streets. 5 men had been killed. A slave, and Crispus Attucks were within those 5 men. All of this tension had been caused by rising taxes.

    it was a raid in the Boston harbor and Britain imposed taxation without representation and in response the American colonists had dumped 342 chests of tea because they were angry at the British.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    In this battle the British and the Americans fought. But this fight wasn't actually on bunker hill. It was one of the bloodiest fights ever of the American revolution and the British had won this fight.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    In this battle The Franco-American siege had eventually exhausted the British army supply of food and ammunition over time. Which eventually lead the British troops to surrender to the continental army.
  • Treaty of Paris signed

    This had been between Great Britain and American colonies. It had recognized united states to be an independent nation. the Treaty of Paris signed
    had also ended the American Revolution.
  • Constitutional Convention

    In this the biggest thing was debates and arguments. the biggest debate was if the federal government or the states should have more power. The original idea or goal for this was supposed to be to strengthen the governments executive branch and to also decide how America was going to be governed.
  • Great compromise

    In this compromise there was three branches of government that has separate powers. The house of representatives had each state assigned seats to the size of the population. But in the senate each of the states would have two delegates no matter what their size is.
  • Bill of Rights adopted

    Bill of Rights adopted
    This bill of rights adopted helped out Americas rights in relation to their government. It reserved all powers not delegated to a federal government, the states, or the people. but it also guarantees liberties to an individual.
