    The Battle of Blood River was a battle in which 470,pioneers in South Africa defeated the Zulu Tribe numbering around 15,000 soldiers.The battle was won by the pioneers thanks to their use of the machine gun and 2 cannon's in which they defeated the Zulu a tribe which had never been defeated in battle because they did not surrendered and broke them and after that their colonization of Africa was almost unopposed.

When Europe realized that Africa had plenty of natural resources, King Leopold II decided not to wait for those natural resources to be traded to them, but rather to divide Africa among the European nations and decrease the cost of transport back to their main land.

The Boers used guerrilla tactics to hide amongst the people, and the British would kill everybody, regardless of gender, age, or race. They believed that if they could kill everybody, they would kill every Boer that had resisted them.
