The Decembrist's were a small group of nobles and army officers that tried to oberthrow the czar's government. They hoped to set up a constitutional monarchy. They soon got crushed by the Czar. -
Czar Alexander II emancipates the serfs
Czar Alexander II emancipated the serfs. This freed nearly 23 million people. The serfs gained nearly full freedom after the emancipation. -
Bloody Sunday
A group of workers led by Gapon marched into the czar's winter palace in St. Petersburg. The czar's soldiers then fired upon them, this killed and injured many, giving the day it's name. -
The Russo- Japanese War
The main reason behind this war was Russia's need for a warm water port on the Pacific Ocean. -
The Revolution of 1905
The Revolution of 1905 was an uprising to try and change the autocracy to a constitutional monarchy. -
