French and Indian War
The French and Indian war started out when the American Colonists and Native Americans fought over land in the east. Later the French allied with the Native Americans and the British allied with the Colonies. The British and the Americans ended up winning the war and getting the land, -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act stated that everyone in the colonies had to use a stamp in order to buy and use any paper goods. Paraliment put a tax on the stamp which made the colonists furious. The tax was created to fund the troops that fight during the French and Indian war. -
Townshend Act
The Townshend Act was passed by Charles Townshend to lower the debt that Britian had. They put taxes on many goods in the colonies such as paper, paint, lead, glass, and tea. This made the Colonists furious who then penned the term "taxation without representation". The Colonists then boycotted many British goods. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre occurred when many colonists came to taunt and irritate British soliders and threw objects at them such as snowballs and sticks and stones. The soliders provoked, shot and killed 5 American Colonists. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was an act passed by Parliament that repealed the Townshend Act but still kept the tax on tea, even raised it higher. The East India Company profitted greatly because of this. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was a day when colonists rebelled against Britian. They sunk ships full of tea in the Boston Harbor to get back at the British for taxing their tea. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were acts passed by Parliament in response to the boston tea party. These acts did many acts such as shutting down Boston harbor, Britian gaining control over the local government, giving Britian the right to bring justice to those who were accused, and made colonist provide housing for British Soldiers. -
1st and 2nd Continental Congress
The 1st Continental Congress was a meeting gathering where representatives from each of the colonies met to discuss how they could amend there ties with Britian. The 2nd Continental Congress met and created the Declaration of Independance. George Washington was also elected leader of the movement at this meeting. -
The Battles of Lexington and Concord
The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first battles that offically marked the start of the American Revolution. This famous battle featured Paul Revere going through town yelling "The British are coming". The battle offically started in Lexington and the British made their way to Concord. The Colonists won the battle after many causalties were killed. -
Publishing Of Common Sense
Thomas Paine published a phamplet titled "Common Sense" that was very important in American History. "Common Sense" was written about freedom and how the colonies should gain their independance while belittling the British crown.
