The British used Indians as troops on their trading operations. Mutineers murdured hundreds of Eurpeans until the British put an end to it by executing the mutineers. -

Formation of the Indian National Congress
Indians wanted to pass a bill that made Europeans answer to Indian courts. The Indian National Congress was the outcome. It was made up of middle class Indians, but became much more. The British government supported it. -
Formation of the Muslim League
The Muslim League was formed from the Aligarh Movement, which promoted a modern education for Muslims. -
Salt March
Gandhi and thousands of Indians marched to the sea coast to produce their own salt. This act caused many Indians to want to join the fight and changed the world's look on Indian independance. -
Quit India campaign
A campaign for a British withdrawl from India. The British had support in many places, even Indians, while the Quit India campaign had the Americans.The British arrested thousands of people involved in the campaign. The Quit India campaign never did complete its mission, but did leave people thinking. -
Hindu-Muslim Conflict
The Indian subcontinent was now separated into India and Pakistan. Each religion, Hindus and Muslims, migrated toward their own land, Hindus to India and Muslisms to Pakistan. Many people were killed throughout the journey. -
Indian Independence Act
The Parliament of the United Kingdom partitioned British India into two independent dominions of India and Pakistan. India and Pakistan were now two new countries. -
Gandhi Assassinated
Gandhi suggested disbanding the Congess as a political forum, a day before he was killed.Gandhi was killed at point blank range on his way to a prayer meeting by Nathuram Godse.
