    Selective Service Act
    This act gave the President the power to draft soliders. The act required all men in the U.S. between the ages of 21 and 30 to register for military service.In a few months, about 10 million men across the country, registered into the military draft.

    Hitler launched a Blitzkrieg on Poland, causing France and Britian to declare war against Germany.

    Act passed by U.S. Congress in the 1930's. It ensured that the U.S. wouldn't become involved in foreign conflicts. Limited aid to France and Britain.

    A successful German invasion of France and the Low Countries, defeating all primary forces and pushing French and British forces back to sea.

    Battle of Britain

    German and British air forces fought in the skies over the United Kingdom. The Battle of Britain ended when Germany’s Luftwaffe failed to gain air control over the Royal Air Force after months of targeting Britain’s air bases, military posts and, civilian populations. Britain’s victory saved the country from a ground invasion and possible occupation by Germany.
  • Tripartite Pact

    Tripartite Pact
    Pact signed in Berlin, Germany that established the Axis Powers of WWII, by Nazi Germany, Facist ITaly, and Imperial Japan. It stated that the Axis powers will "Stand by" and "Cooperate" with one another for the next 10 years.
  • Lend Lease Act

    Lend Lease Act
    Provided the United States aid to foreign nations during WWII. It gave the president the right to transfer weapons for which Congress distributed money to “the government of any country whose defense the President deems vital to the defense of the United States.” Allowing the transfer of supplies w/o compensation to Britain, China, the Soviet Union, etc. The act allowed the United States to support its war interests without being overextended.
  • Atlantic Charter

    Atlantic Charter
    A vision for the postwar world. In January 1942, a group of 26 Allied nations pledged their support for this declaration, known as the Atlantic Charter. The document is considered one of the first key steps toward the establishment of the United Nations in 1945.

    Attack On Pearl Harbor
    It was a surprise military attack led by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It officially entered the United States into WWII.
  • United States Declares War On Japan

    United States Declares War On Japan
    President FDR declared war on Japan the day after the attack of Pearl Harbor. Japanese Americans were rounded up and sent to Ellis Island and held in custody. Only 1 voted against the declaration of war. It was a pacifist.

    Created an auxiliary unit, called the WAAC on May 1942. The Women's Army Corps. is the female gendered branch of the U.S. military.
