    The selective service act allowed the United States to create an army for World War 2. This was necessary to go into war.
  • A Phillip Randolph's march and Roosevelt's response

    A Phillip Randolph's march and Roosevelt's response
    The March on Washington Movement wanted to desegregate the armed forces and to create equal opportunities for African Americans. Then the African Americans received more opportunities in the US.
  • Kellogg-Briand Pact signed

    It was a an agreement between the Soviet Union and Germany to remain neutral if either nation was attacked by a third party.
  • Japan invades Manchuria

    Japan invades Manchuria
    Right after the Mukden incident, the Japanese invaded Manchuria, in China. The Japanese claimed that the Chinese had sabotaged the railway, but the Chinese knew that the Japanese were simply looking for an excuse to invade them.
  • Enabling Act of 1933 is passed

    The enabling act of 1933 allowed Hitler to enact laws without having to speak to the rest of the government. This made it easier for Hitler to do what he wanted.
  • Hitler is named leader of the Nazi Party in Germany

    He was appointed as the Chancellor of Germany by President Hindenburg on January 30, 1933. He was head of the government that consisted of Nazis and German Nationalists.
  • Neutrality Act of 1935 signed

    Neutrality Act of 1935 signed
    It was signed to prevent the US from being involved in the Europe and Asia turmoil. They didn’t want to become involved in foreign conflicts that the US had no interest in.
  • FDR wins a third term as president

    FDR became the only president to serve more than two terms. He was nominated for a third term in 1940.
  • Lend-Lease program enabled

    Lend-Lease program enabled
    The Lend-lease program allowed the U.S to easily provide military aid to foreign countries. This helped the U.S help their allies like never before.
  • Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor

    Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese sent planes to attack a US Naval base in Hawaii. It was a sneak attack to lure the US into the war and created an uproar in the US. The US then declares war on Japan in response to the attack.
  • Adolf Hitler declares war against the United States

    The US declared war on Germany because they are an ally of the Japanese. The Germans and Italians then declare war on the US since they were battling against Japan.
