  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Proclamation of 1763 was issued for colonists. They could not move west of the Appalachian Mountains. The colonists reacted by moving out of the mountain range. Which was violating the Proclamation of 1763.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was paid by wealthy merchants. They thought that the Act would make colonists stop smuggling molasses (foreign-made), but the colonists did not listen. They reacted by smuggling molasses into the colonies again.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Colonists were required to purchase special stamped paper. It was for every legal document, license, newspaper, pamphlet, and almanac. The Stamp Act imposed special "stamp duties" on packages of playing cards and dice. The colonists reaction were the Sons of Liberty which was founded by Samuel Adams. They harassed custom workers,stamp agents, and royal governors.

    Repeal of the Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was repealed by the Parliament. Parliament issued the Declaratory Act on the same day and it was to make its power clear. The colonists had no reaction.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was not supposed to be massacre. It was a fist-fight broke out over jobs, but the British Army soldiers shot and killed people while under attack by a mob because the mob gathered in front of the Customs House and they taunted the soldiers. As a reaction, Samuel Adams called this the Boston Massacre,which he presented it as a British attack on citizens who were defenseless.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Tea Act was passed by Parliament to help struggling English Tea Companies. The colonists reacted by throwing tea into the Boston Harbor dressed up like "Indians".
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    As a response to the Boston Tea Party, Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts. It was a punishment for the colonists. The colonists reaction were that they created and assembled the First Continental Congress.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress was a meeting of delegates from the Thirteen Colonies except Georgia which made it only twelve delegates. The colonies actually acted like a united government for the first time. They were sending petitions to England for repeal of oppressive legislation and also preparing their militia. The colonists reaction would be by reversing the economic sanctions placed on them.
  • Lexington & Concord

    Lexington & Concord
    Known as "Shot heard around the World." British troops had moved from Boston toward Lexington and Concord to snag the colonists military supplies and arrest revolutionaries. The colonists reaction was the interfering the British and engaging in battle by the minutemen which were civilian soldiers. They started in Lexington and then at Concord.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The British drove the Americans from their fort at Breed's Hill to Bunker Hill. The British won but many people died. Americans could have won but they ran out of ammunition. The colonists reaction was that even thought they lost; they now wanted to be in Army. Losing gave the colonists more courage to stand up to the British.
