    -Was passed by the British Parliament in 1765
    -first direct tax imposed on the British colonies
    -tax on newspaper, documents, magizines, and other material was to help finance for troops in the colonies.
    -Britan tried to repeal the act but the American Revolution had already started.
  • Boston Massacre

    -between British soldiers and a crowd of colonists in Boston
    -nine British soldiers opened fire on the crowd, killing five and wounding six men.
    -They were arestted the next morning
    -Series of more British soldiers shooting on peaceful colonists increased

    -about 70 men board 3 British ships and throw their tea into the harbor.
    -Was a protest against the tea act. -led to a chain of events that directly led to the American Revolution
