Kansas/Nebraska Act
Kansas/Nebraska Act allowed the new territories of Kansas and Nebraska to vote on whether to be a free or slave state by popular sovreignty. -
John Brown's Raid
John Brown was an abolitionist who had the brilliant idea to raid the federal arsenal at Harper's ferry. He and 20 other men were trying to start a slave uprising. The end result was that 8 of his men died and he was captured, tried, and later executed for treason. -
Dred Scott Decision
The supreme court decided that even though Scott's owner had died, he was not free. He was still inherited property to Sanford's relatives.
